After an "interesting" experience with Apollo hosting, I have moved onto IndexCore(IC) hosting. They are more media friendly company for developers, designer and other walks of life to host multiple sites.

Mediatemple review

After the bad experience with canaca, now I'm using mediatemple (mt). It used to be a very expensive host, but now they are offering hosting plans for multiple sites at good prices.

HOST M: Beware! Poor Service, Not Reliable. They shut off communications rather than fix problem

Host M is not a wise choice. If I knew then what I knew now I would have "stayed clear". Got them from listserv posting. Have had them for 16 months with intermittent server problems and irregularities, email incompatibilities with Verizon and Thunderbird. But that pales with what happened last week. Server went down Sat Aug. 20 and wasn't restored until Aug 24. Worse is that on Sat. they lost 3 days of prior emails...pretty hard to do on an IMAP server.

0costdomains.com is an ICANN accredited registrar. They offer a $0 cost domain name with any of their hosting plans.

Unfortunately the deal is not as good as it seems.

A friend of mine used his own ISP company for hosting. One day he noticed, while in a customer's office, that the firewall had blocked out his site. He had purchased a domain name and had it pointed to his own ISP web space. On making enquiries he found that part of his domain name supplied by his ISP, was recognized by the firewall as blocked content. Although his own domain name was suitable it was the actual host name that was containing the wording that the firewall did not like.

One client of mine insisted to try UCVhost web hosting company (ucvhost.com) for two of his sites, one was hosted on the linux plan and the other on the windows plan.

He thought that one dollar per month for unlimited bandwidth and disk space was a great deal. Unfortunedly for him it was a nightmare.
